Job Description: Service Shop Porter
Position Summary
The Service Shop Porter plays a key support role within the dealership’s Service Department. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and flow of the service shop while assisting technicians and service advisors with vehicle movement and general operational needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Movement & Support

Safely move customer vehicles to and from service lanes, technician bays, parking areas, and the wash bay.

Deliver completed vehicles to the appropriate pickup area.

Assist technicians with vehicle placement and retrieval to maintain efficient workflow.
Shop Maintenance & Cleanliness

Keep service bays, shop floors, and common work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Empty trash, sweep, mop, and perform routine facility upkeep.

Ensure shop tools and equipment are returned to proper storage areas.
Customer & Staff Assistance

Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner when assisting with vehicle intake.

Assist service advisors or management with any requested support tasks.

Help maintain a clean and organized customer drop-off/pick-up area.
Vehicle Care

Perform basic vehicle cleaning such as vacuuming and exterior wash.

Check fuel levels, battery level for EVs (if applicable), and report any concerns.

Ensure vehicles are handled responsibly and protected from damage.
Safety & Compliance

Follow all dealership safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

Report any spills, hazards, or equipment issues immediately.

Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to company driving standards.
Qualifications

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. Must have a clean driving record.

Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmissions preferred.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work in varying weather conditions. Attendance and punctuality are mandatory.

Previous experience in an automotive service environment is a plus but not required.
