Scope of Position

The purpose of this position is to advance the College’s mission of empowering people and fostering achievement. The role provides responsible academic support services and instruction to help learners attain their basic education and related career goals through scheduled contact. It also supports students enrolled in competency-based education (CBE) courses, particularly in math and science, ensuring an inclusive, student-centered learning experience that promotes lifelong success.

Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)

  • Promote student achievement and empowerment by working within competency-based education (CBE programs to ensure learners successfully complete guided learning modules.
  • Provide tutoring in the Student Success Center to improve student success, retention, and confidence.
  • Support equity in learning by guiding students through supplemental instruction in all levels of college math and science, fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with CBE instructors to maintain consistent communication and provide proactive support that ensures students’ progress and success.
  • Mentor and guide student tutors within the Student Success Centers, modeling integrity and responsibility to ensure consistent, high-quality assistance.
  • Assist in achieving academic and career program goals that align with the College’s mission to empower learners and foster lifelong achievement.
  • Collect and analyze student feedback and performance data to inform program improvements that enhance completion rates and overall student success.
  • Create student-centered support activities such as study groups and career exploration opportunities that reflect the College’s commitment to service and respect
  • Implement compassionate interventions for students at risk of withdrawal and promptly alert advisors or program coordinators to provide timely support.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with program coordinators, faculty, staff, and site managers to maximize program effectiveness and uphold institutional values.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and self-assessment, supporting College-wide initiatives and contributing to committees that advance the mission.
  • Connect students to appropriate support services based on individual needs, ensuring equitable access and fostering a culture of care and responsibility.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two years’ experience teaching, tutoring, or working with adult and college-age students.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience teaching or tutoring college-level math.

Team Members can expect to be paid a salary between $52,885 to $71,395, which includes an excellent benefits package. The salary will be based on a combination of relevant education, training, work experience, and skill competencies.
