What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Placement Coordinator position at Lewis and Clark Community College?
Scope of Position
To collaboratively assess and support students in developing and executing a comprehensive career readiness pathway. This includes providing individualized, intensive guidance to empower students as they transition to meaningful employment and/or advanced training or further education.
Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)
- Lead inclusive job search assistance beginning at program enrollment and continuing through successful job placement and follow-up, empowering students at every stage of their career journey.
- Coordinate and sustain strong employer partnerships and networking opportunities within industries aligned with LC Adult Education and CEJA training programs to support meaningful employment pathways.
- Collaborate with employers, faculty, CEJA coordinators, pathway advocates, and social service agencies to ensure alignment and student success.
- Develop and oversee the delivery of career awareness, career development, and critical study skills instruction for students enrolled in bridge programs (e.g., Clean Energy Basics, Readiness Bridge), fostering confidence and preparedness.
- Elevate the educational, vocational, emotional, and social development of a diverse student population through inclusive, respectful, and student-centered practices.
- Counsel students to better understand their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, honoring individual goals and lived experiences.
- Guide students in selecting appropriate educational and career goals and provide supportive guidance in navigating personal, social, family, and behavioral challenges that may create barriers to success.
- Facilitate individual potential by thoughtfully identifying and addressing strengths as well as areas for growth.
- Administer, analyze, and interpret career assessments, interest profiles, and aptitude tools with students.
- Review student materials (e.g., health reports, attendance records) to help identify and reduce barriers to successful program completion and placement.
- Provide direct, compassionate guidance in critical educational, personal, and career-related decision-making processes.
- Ensure students are fully informed of, prepared for, and effectively connected to, all available student support resources and social service agencies, promoting access and equity.
- Participate in relevant student orientation and registration processes as needed to support a welcoming and inclusive onboarding experience.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records and prepare required program and performance reports.
- Actively participate in self-assessment and continuous professional development to support personal growth and enhance service to students and the college community.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- At least one year of professional experience in placing individuals into employment, career counseling, or workforce development.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals, particularly young adults and those who have barriers to employment.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity and values is essential.
- Proven ability to make informed, data-driven decisions based on experience and objective analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
In this grant funded position, Team Members can expect to be paid a salary between $52,885 to $71,395, which includes an excellent benefits package. The salary will be based on a combination of relevant education, training, work experience, and skill competencies.
