What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor, Business (Tenure Track) position at Lewis and Clark Community College and Careers?

Scope of Position

Teach and assess student learning outcomes in accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and sport management courses. In collaboration with academic and industry colleagues, responsible for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement including continuous course and program assessment. Facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in internship and cooperative education experiences, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and other student development activities, college, and community events.

Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)

  • Learner-centered Instruction: Teach such courses as cost accounting, financial accounting, managerial accounting, payroll accounting, financial management, fundamentals of management, human resources management, operations management, financial investments, macroeconomics, microeconomies, introduction to marketing, social media marketing, salesmanship, issues in e-commerce and social media, intro to modern business, intro to sport management, sport marketing, and sport law. Demonstrate understanding of financial management financial investments, financial spreadsheet analysis, management concepts and general business skills as well current marketing techniques. Continuously assess student learning to maintain and improve course and program curriculum and instruction. Promote learner-centered scheduling, including evening courses, off-campus courses, web-enhanced and web-delivered courses.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and/or revise course(s) and programs in collaboration with academic and industry colleagues. Propose and develop interdepartmental course offerings that meet student needs.
  • Assessment: Participate in course-level and program-level assessment.
  • Technology: Integrate instructional technology as appropriate in the listed disciplines, including online delivery, integrated, contextualized and modularized courses, and web-enhanced course components that meet student needs.
  • Involvement: Support College-wide initiatives and serve on committees. Mentor and support adjunct faculty. Support the department club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
  • Professional Development: Initiate and maintain active participation in professional development opportunities in content area and in teaching effectiveness.
  • Philosophy: Continually strive to achieve the College Mission, Vision, and Purposes.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • MBA/Master’s degree in a business discipline, and 2000 hours of relevant, nonteaching work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and sport management courses.
  • Mastery of computer software used in typical business situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our community college mission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard Ultra or other course management software.

Full-time faculty base salaries are determined by education level and experience, which includes an excellent benefits package.
