Position Summary

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing Montessori classroom where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Your role is essential in supporting children's academic, social, and emotional development while helping maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and Montessori lessons
• Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
• Encourage children's independence while providing appropriate guidance and support
• Build meaningful relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Observe and document children's progress
• Help prepare and maintain an organized classroom environment
• Monitor daily attendance and classroom routines
• Communicate professionally with families and staff
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and school events
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school information
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Fluent in English
• Ability to pass all required federal and state background checks
• Reliable transportation to McLean, VA

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working with young children
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Montessori experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Dependable, patient, nurturing, collaborative, and proactive
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Professional, team-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional care for young children
