Material Manager
Lewark Metal Spinning is seeking a highly organized and proactive Material Manager to oversee all material-related operations within our metal fabrication and spinning facility. This role ensures that raw materials, tooling, and supplies are sourced, received, stored, and delivered efficiently to support production schedules and customer requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, communicates clearly across departments, and maintains a strong focus on accuracy, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of metals, finished goods, consumables, and production supplies.
- Forecast material needs based on production schedules and customer orders.
- Implement and monitor inventory control systems to reduce waste, shortages, and excess stock.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories.
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source and purchase raw materials, tooling, and supplies at competitive prices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms to support cost‑effective operations.
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Receiving, Storage & Material Flow
- Oversee receiving processes to ensure materials are inspected, documented, and stored properly.
- Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and organization of materials throughout the facility.
- Coordinate timely delivery of materials to production teams to prevent downtime.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, scheduling, engineering, and quality teams to align material availability with operational needs.
- Communicate material constraints or delays proactively and help develop solutions.
- Support new product launches by coordinating material requirements and lead times.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track material usage, costs, and variances; provide regular reports to leadership.
- Identify process inefficiencies and lead improvement initiatives.
- Support utilization of ERP/MRP systems and digital inventory tools.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience in materials management, inventory control, and/or supply chain within a manufacturing environment (metalworking experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of metals, gauges, and material specifications used in fabrication or spinning.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and inventory software (JobBoss)
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Supervision of Materials Team
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed and work safely in a shop environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor‑relationship management experience.
Salary : $80 - $90
