Position Summary
LEW Environmental Services, LLC, a respected environmental consulting and remediation company based in Mine Hill, New Jersey, is seeking an experienced Carpenter / Remediation Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a skilled and dependable individual with experience in carpentry, painting, demolition, and environmental remediation services.
The Carpenter / Remediation Technician will perform a variety of construction and environmental remediation tasks, including framing, sheetrock installation, finish carpentry, painting, mold remediation, lead-based paint remediation, and related restoration activities. The successful candidate will maintain high-quality workmanship while adhering to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Candidates must reside in or be willing to travel throughout Northern New Jersey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry work including framing, drywall installation and repair, trim work, molding installation, and finish carpentry.
- Install, repair, and replace windows, doors, cabinets, flooring, and other building components.
- Perform interior and exterior painting, staining, and finishing work.
- Assist with mold remediation and lead-based paint remediation projects.
- Perform demolition and site preparation activities as required.
- Set up containment areas and maintain proper worksite controls during remediation activities.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other construction equipment.
- Load, unload, transport, and properly dispose of materials and debris.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
- Complete project documentation and daily field reports as required.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, coworkers, and subcontractors.
- Travel to various project locations throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of carpentry and/or construction experience.
- Experience with framing, drywall installation and repair, trim work, and finish carpentry.
- Experience with interior and exterior painting.
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and dependability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish.
- Experience performing mold remediation and/or lead remediation work.
- Experience working in occupied residential and commercial environments.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are preferred but not required:
- EPA RRP (Renovation, Repair and Painting) Certification
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Certification
- Respirator Fit Test Certification
- New Jersey Lead Worker Certification
- New York Lead Worker Certification
- New York Mold Worker Certification
- HAZWOPER Certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective clothing when necessary.
Working Conditions
This position requires travel to various client locations and job sites throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas. Work may involve exposure to construction environments, dust, mold, lead-based paint, and other environmental hazards while utilizing appropriate safety controls and personal protective equipment.
