What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Product Introduction/Manufacturing Engineer position at Levitas Inc.?
LevitasBio is Unlocking a New Dimension in Cellular Analysis
Here at LevitasBio, we are advancing science by offering, for the first time, an unbiased and unperturbed view of biology. Our proprietary label-free levitation technology enables researchers to analyze and isolate cells without introducing bias, high pressure, and modifications to gene expression profiles, ensuring integrity and data more representative of the true biological state.
About the Role:
We are looking for a high-energy, hands-on New Product Introduction/Manufacturing Engineer to join our team to complete the transfer to manufacturing of, and to sustain into the future, our newest, high-throughput magnetic levitation system, LeviCell 96.
In this role, you will work to fully develop and optimize the design, assembly and QC of our cutting-edge magnetic levitation arrays and companion robotic system.
What You’ll Do:
As NPI/manufacturing engineer you’ll manage bringing the LeviCell 96 Array building process from an early stage to efficient and high-quality manufacturing. You will also support the completion of the associated robotic system calibration and QC development.
- Array Manufacturing Process Development: Optimize the existing assembly process for Levitation Arrays. You will contribute to the building of the LeviCell arrays using process and documentation you develop as the product ramps from early access to unrestricted sales.
- System Calibration: Work with other engineering team members to evaluate and improve existing system calibration methods and specifications.
- QC Method Development: Further optimize and implement QC test method updates for both the arrays and system.
- Supplier Management: Coordinate with suppliers of off-the-shelf and custom parts to manage inventory and quality. Perform incoming inspection of parts.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Collaborate with internal design and application team and provide equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed, robot protocol management, and testing.
Who You Are:
- The Builder: You are good with your hands. You enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. You are comfortable using basic hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, calipers), as part of precise assembly and testing tasks.
- The Process-Driven Problem Solver: You value consistency, accuracy, and repeatability. You follow established procedures, pay attention to details, and take pride in building reliable processes that deliver the same high-quality results every time.
- The Teammate: You are humble, collaborative, and communicative. You’re ready to roll up your sleeves to help the team hit a deadline.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 3-10 years of experience in a comparable engineering role.
- Proficiency in using CAD software and creating detailed technical documentation.
Bonus Points (Preferred but not required):
- Exposure to laboratory automation or liquid handling robots.
- Experience with 3D printing or basic rapid prototyping.
- Team leadership in a fast-growing organization
Why Join Us?
- Rapid Growth: As part of a small startup team, develop a wide range of skills with potential to build a team with company growth.
- Impact: You will be working with technology that is at the forefront of tools for biomedical research.
- Mentorship: You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists who are dedicated to your professional development.
