Camp Levine:

As the Washington, D.C. area’s premiere fine arts camp, Camp Levine has influenced thousands of children, inspired young musicians, established enduring friendships, and created lifelong memories for thirty-six years. We are in search of experienced, enthusiastic arts administrator to continue the tradition this summer!


Site Director

Position Summary:

The Site Director is responsible for Camp Levine operations at their assigned campus. The ideal candidate should be outgoing and enthusiastic about supporting children and teachers in an arts-based camp setting.

Reports to: Director of Camp Levine

Dates of Employment: June 23- July 31, 2026

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Communicate and meet with the Director of Camp Levine prior to the camp season.
  • Attend five 1-hour meetings from February- June to ensure preparation for the camp season.
  • Attend one virtual Teacher Orientation & Planning Session.
  • Plan for and lead the Site Orientation & Setup Days for teachers, staff, and teen apprentices, to ensure the site is prepared for the first day of the camp session.
  • Be on-site and prepared to work during the hours of 8:15 AM-4:15 PM.
  • Remain on call during after care hours from 4:15-6:00 PM, in case of emergency.
  • Support teachers, staff, and campers throughout the camp day
  • Be the first point of contact and respond promptly and respectfully to parent questions and concerns.
  • Communicate with camp parents regularly regarding attendance, camper behavior, camp special events, weekly reminders, and procedures.
  • Plan and lead four camp faculty meetings to discuss the camp performances, pertinent camp issues, and camp schedule changes.
  • Organize, plan, and execute the final camp performances, dress rehearsals, and games day for each camp session.
  • Observe and enforce any campus-specific security and operational regulations, including parking regulations.
  • Along with the Camp Director, enforce any site-specific laws regarding fire/tornado drills, licenses, background checks, fingerprinting, CPR/First Aid certifications, and CPS procedures.
  • Monitor weather and air quality; be prepared to adjust the schedule for indoor play and instruction.
  • Along with the respective Campus Manager, monitor use of the building for safe camp operations.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers and teen apprentices and obtain CPR/First Aid certification
  • Address camper behavioral issues and teen apprentice behavioral issues.
  • Oversee and regulate the carpool drop-off/pick-up procedures to ensure safety.
  • Generate social media content, along with the Assistant to the Site Director, by uploading camp photos, videos, songs, anecdotes, and testimonials to your designated camp drive on a weekly basis.

Qualifications: Applicants for this position should have extensive experience working with teachers, parents, and students ranging in age from 4-18. Site Directors play an active role during the camp day—leading all-camp activities, supporting campers in a variety of ways, and facilitating carline and additional procedures. The ideal candidate would help maintain a high morale throughout the camp day, have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and know how to take initiative/ownership at their site. Additional qualifications include:

  • Extensive training and experience working with children
  • Experience working in a supervisory or managerial role in an educational, summer camp, or after-school setting
  • Excellent communication skills with parents
  • Experience with conflict resolution
  • Ability to be flexible and find creative solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Understanding and comfort in maintaining safety protocols
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based computer systems a plus

Assistant to the Site Director

Position Summary: This position is open to a wide range of candidates, especially an undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate with an interest in music and/or the fine arts, and in working with children and teens from ages 4-18. Applicants for these positions will be assigned to one of our camp sites (NW DC Upton St. campus, SE DC THEARC campus, Strathmore MD campus, Falls Church VA campus). This is a paid position which could be classified as an internship. Please contact us and your school personnel for requirements.

Job Type: Seasonal full-time

Dates of Employment: June 8- July 31, 2026

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

The Assistant to the Site Director is an administrative assistant position that involves supporting the Site Director at Camp Levine. The Assistant to the Site Director must be available full-time for both sessions onsite from 8:00am-4:00pm.

This position also involves 2 weeks of onsite preparation at the NW DC, Upton St. campus prior to camp and required attendance at the teen apprentice orientation/workshop.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Support the Site Director, faculty, and Teen Apprentice Coordinator in daily camp operations
  • Organize, print, and copy camp materials, including schedules, rosters, lists, and signage
  • Assist Site Director at carpool
  • Assist with content for the camp newsletter
  • Take photos/videos for the weekly newsletter and upload to the designated camp drive for social media purposes
  • Supervise campers when necessary
  • Attend Faculty Meetings

Qualifications: Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are required. Experience working in an office setting is preferred. Former Camp Levine Teen Apprentices and campers are encouraged to apply.

Teen Apprentice Coordinator

The Teen Apprentice Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Teen Apprentice Program at the respective Camp Levine site. The Teen Apprentice Coordinator must be available full-time for both sessions onsite from 8:30am-4:30pm. This position also involves 2 weeks of onsite preparation at the NW DC, Upton St. campus and participation in faculty and teen apprentice orientations/workshops. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assist in placing teen apprentices in assignments at the respective Camp Levine site
  • Assist at the Teen Apprentice Orientation
  • Assist the Site Director in planning special events (involving the teens) at the designated site
  • Lead daily teen apprentice meetings
  • Encourage and support teen apprentices during the day
  • Observe and support teen apprentices in classrooms to ensure engagement in activities and lessons
  • Plan apprentice performances and coordinate rehearsals
  • Support the Site Director, teachers, and Assistant to the Site Director in daily camp operations

Qualifications: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required. Experience working with teenagers in a camp/education setting is preferred. Former Camp Levine Teen Apprentices and campers are encouraged to apply.
