Duties
- Measure clients accurately to ensure garments fit flawlessly, using basic math skills to determine adjustments.
- Cut fabric pieces precisely according to pattern specifications, maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Sew garments using industrial or domestic sewing machines, ensuring durability and quality in every stitch.
- Construct new clothing items from scratch or modify existing pieces to meet customer requests.
- Perform fittings with clients, making necessary adjustments for optimal comfort and style.
- Repair tears, replace zippers, hem pants, and perform other garment repairs efficiently and neatly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and fabrics are properly stored after use.
- Provide excellent customer service by advising clients on fabric choices, styles, and tailoring options.
- Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Keep detailed records of work performed on each garment for quality control and future reference.
Experience
- Proven experience in fashion retail or tailoring environment demonstrating strong garment construction skills.
- Proficiency with sewing machines—both industrial and domestic—and familiarity with various sewing techniques.
- Knowledge of garment fitting, pattern alteration, and repair methods.
- Ability to interpret design sketches or customer requests into finished products.
- Basic math skills for measurements, pattern adjustments, and calculations related to garment sizing.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Familiarity with fabrics, textiles, and sewing tools is highly desirable.
