Data Governance AnalystLocation: Remote USAUS Citizenship or Green Card Required6 Month ContractPay: $83/hrRole Summary:The Data Governance Analyst (Contractor) will provide hands-on support for the design, implementation, and adoption of the Atlan data catalog. This role is delivery focused and execution-oriented, supporting defined governance outcomes over a fixed engagement period. The contractor will work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technical resources to curate metadata, support governance processes, and help operationalize catalog usage.This role is not intended to define long-term strategy, but rather to execute agreed upon governance standards, processes, and implementation plans. Key Responsibilities: Atlan Platform & Metadata Management· Support implementation and operational use of the Atlan data catalog· Curate and maintaino Business glossary termso Technical metadata (tables, columns, schemas)o Ownership and stewardship assignmentso Tags, classifications, and data domains· Assist with metadata ingestion, validation, and quality checks· Support lineage review and validation with technical teams· Ensure metadata aligns with governance standards and business context Business Glossary & Standards· Assist with development and maintenance of the business glossary· Ensure definitions are clear, consistent, and business friendly· Help align business terms to technical assets in the catalog· Support review and approval workflows for glossary and metadata updates Governance Process Enablement· Support the execution of data governance processes and standards· Assist with onboarding data domains and subject areas into Atlan· Help document governance procedures, guidelines, and best practices· Track governance activities and support issue intake and resolution Data Governance & Domain Enablement· Partner with data owners and data stewards to onboard data domains into Atlan· Support domain-based governance models, including:o Domain classificationo Ownership accountabilityo Domain scoped access considerations· Help define and document governance processes, standards, and operating procedures· Assist with stewardship workflows, approvals, and issue resolutionRBAC & Access Support· Support role-based access control (RBAC) implementation in Atlan· Assist in:o Defining base roles and permissionso Validating domain-based access modelso Supporting access reviews and auditsCoordinate with security and platform administrators as needed Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementAct as a liaison between business, technical, and governance teamsSupport governance working groups and implementation planning sessionsIdentify opportunities to improve metadata quality, usability, and adoptionTrack and report on governance and catalog adoption metrics Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)5- 7 years of experience in:Data governanceData managementMetadata managementAnalytics or data platform supportExperience working with a data catalog or governance platform (Atlan preferred; Collibra, Alation acceptable)Strong understanding of:Business vs. technical metadataData domains and ownership modelsData governance concepts and best practicesExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Preferred QualificationsHands‑on experience supporting an Atlan implementationFamiliarity with:Snowflake or cloud data platformsBI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)Data quality concepts and toolingExposure to data quality, privacy, or compliance initiativesExperience supporting enterprise data programs or platform implementationsKnowledge of data privacy, sensitivity classification, or compliance frameworksKey SkillsMetadata curation and documentationBusiness glossary developmentStakeholder facilitationAnalytical thinking and attention to detailProcess documentation and governance operationsAbility to translate technical concepts into business language Success MeasuresAccurate, complete, and trusted metadata in AtlanClear ownership and stewardship across domainsIncreased catalog adoption and usageImproved data discoverability and understandingPositive feedback from data owners, stewards, and business users
