Quality Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support precision manufacturing operations by ensuring products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. This role will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to develop inspection methods, investigate quality issues, drive corrective actions, and continuously improve manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate has experience in machining, tooling, fixtures, gages, or precision manufacturing and enjoys solving technical problems in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality processes to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to establish inspection plans and acceptance criteria.
- Investigate nonconforming material and production issues using structured root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
- Support the development and validation of fixtures, gages, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to improve process capability, product quality, and production efficiency.
- Analyze inspection data, SPC trends, and quality metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate customer and supplier quality activities, including corrective actions and quality documentation.
- Participate in internal audits and support external customer and certification audits.
- Assist with calibration programs and ensure inspection equipment remains compliant.
- Develop and update quality procedures, inspection instructions, and related documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, and process variation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within precision machining, tooling, aerospace, medical device, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
- Experience with precision measuring equipment including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, and other inspection tools.
- Knowledge of SPC, root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, PPAP, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
- Experience supporting machining, tooling, fixture, or gage manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming or operating CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar).
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training.
- Experience with ERP or manufacturing software systems.

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
