Position Description:
Job Advertisement: Our Kansas City client is seeking an experienced Controller. The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an appropriate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the companys reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with GAAP.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accounting System Directs accounting software coordination and implementation.
- General Ledger and Financial Reporting Direct the monthly closing process on all aspects of the general ledger (including monthly billing, time recording, entry of accruals/depreciation, reporting, etc.). Ensures accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and that any outstanding variances are identified and corrected timely. Ensures accounting entries are in accordance with GAAP and FAR requirements.
- Accounts Payable Manage and direct all aspects of the accounts payable process which includes invoice processing, tax reporting requirements, payments and vendor management.
- Payroll Oversees and processes payroll and ensures compliance with payroll regulations.
- Expense Management Directs the expense and invoice management software (Concur) coordination and implementation.
- Audits Oversees annual financial audit of corporate financials and overhead audit performed by outside firms.
- Budget Assist in the preparation of the Annual Corporate Budget. Ensures budget is properly entered in Deltek.
- Cash Flow Manages Corporate daily cash flow, including cash transfers and line of credit transfers in order to conserve the firms cash position.
- Banking Supervise the banking and credit needs of the corporation, including the credit card program. Provides for the arrangement and administration of lines of credit. Performs bank reconciliations.
- Taxes Manages the preparation of tax reporting and tax payment for all jurisdictions the firm performs work.
- 401K and HSA/FSA Administration
- Personnel Manages the accounting department, including hiring and training accounting staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 7 years of experience in accounting, in an architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) or technical industry
- Experience with multi-company accounting practices required
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint and Concur preferred
- Knowledge of finance, accounting budgeting and cost control principles including GAAP
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point)
