Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Estimator to support our New York operations. This role is responsible for the independent preparation of accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for low‑voltage systems across commercial, infrastructure, and mission‑critical projects. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, experience estimating work in a union construction environment, and established vendor relationships within the NYC low‑voltage market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents related to low‑voltage systems on large‑scale NYC construction projects.
- Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for low‑voltage scopes, including but not limited to: Structured cabling and fiber optic systems, Security, access control, and CCTV DAS, AV, BMS/BAS, and communications infrastructure
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience estimating low‑voltage systems for commercial or infrastructure projects in the NYC market.
- Strong understanding of low‑voltage systems, installation methods, materials, and labor‑driven productivity impacts on pricing.
- Demonstrated experience working with and negotiating NYC‑based low‑voltage vendors and subcontractors; existing relationships will be considered a factor in candidate selection.
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple bids under tight schedules.
- Proficiency with estimating and take‑off software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience & Certifications (a plus)
- Established vendor and manufacturer relationships within the NYC low‑voltage market, including security, structured cabling, and communications systems.
- Experience on large commercial, airport, transit, data center, or institutional projects in New York City.
- Working knowledge of NYC Building Code, NFPA, and applicable low‑voltage standards (TIA/EIA).
- OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or manufacturer‑specific low‑voltage certifications.
Salary: $110k - $150k
