What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Vision Systems Lead - Cameras & LPR position at Level Parking?
Help build the technology that makes a parking network understand when vehicles arrive and leave.
We’re growing a network of parking locations powered by license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and our proprietary software platform. We’re looking for a hands-on technical problem-solver to take ownership of camera performance, recognition accuracy, and the software processes that connect vehicle entries and exits into accurate parking visits.
Your initial scope will cover five Pensacola-area locations, with plans to add approximately one location per month. The improvements and standards you develop will help shape how our network grows.
This role brings together cameras, computer vision, data, and software. One day, you might adjust exposure and camera positioning to improve nighttime plate recognition. The next, you might investigate why two correctly captured plate reads failed to become a correctly paired parking visit.
You’ll work directly with the person developing our platform to turn your findings into clear software improvements and verify that those improvements work.
You’ll take ownership of:
- Camera tuning and site performance: Visit locations to adjust positioning, focus, exposure, shutter speed, and illumination for reliable vehicle and plate capture.
- Recognition and entry/exit accuracy: Investigate missed captures, incorrect plate reads, duplicate events, and failed matches in our dashboard.
- Technical troubleshooting: Determine whether problems originate in camera settings, installation conditions, connectivity, recognition, or software behavior.
- Software improvement specifications: Document examples, explain expected behavior, propose changes, and define how to test the results.
- Performance measurement: Establish baselines, compare results before and after changes, and identify where further improvements will have the greatest impact.
- Deployment standards: Develop repeatable setup, testing, and monitoring practices for existing and future locations.
You could be a strong fit if you:
- Have practical experience with IP cameras, security camera systems, machine vision, networking, field engineering, or similar technology.
- Understand how focus, exposure, shutter speed, motion blur, and lighting affect image quality.
- Enjoy investigating problems across hardware and software.
- Are comfortable learning unfamiliar dashboards and reviewing images, timestamps, logs, and event data.
- Can explain technical findings clearly and turn them into specific, actionable recommendations.
- Work independently, follow through, and take initiative when something needs attention.
- Can regularly visit Pensacola-area locations, including occasional evening visits to evaluate nighttime performance.
Experience with Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI coding tools is a major plus. We’re particularly interested in people who use these tools to investigate problems, analyze data, understand software behavior, or prototype improvements.
Experience with LPR systems, APIs, SQL, scripting, or software testing is also valuable. We welcome relevant hands-on experience from a variety of backgrounds and value demonstrated troubleshooting ability.
You’ll have direct influence over a working product and see the results of your improvements in daily operations. As the network expands, there is room for the role’s hours and responsibilities to grow.
To apply, submit your résumé and briefly describe a technical problem you diagnosed and improved. Tell us what you observed, how you identified the cause, and how you knew the solution worked. Please also mention any experience with cameras, LPR, or AI coding tools.
