Construction Controller

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all accounting functions related to construction projects, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and account reconciliation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, monitor cash management activities, and oversee payroll processing for project teams.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, analyze project budgets, and perform forecasting to support project planning and decision-making.
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, perform account analysis, and ensure timely closing of books using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• Collaborate with project managers to track project expenses, review invoices, and ensure proper allocation of costs in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Support regulatory reporting efforts by preparing documentation related to governmental and non-profit accounting standards when applicable.

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction accounting or a similar role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent financial management tools.
• Solid understanding of technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis.
• Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Excellent skills in financial report writing and communication of complex financial concepts clearly and accurately.
• Ability to perform detailed balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation efficiently while maintaining high accuracy standards.
• Strong analytical mindset with keen attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Pay: $100, $150,000.00 per year
