Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions related to construction projects, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and account reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, monitor cash management activities, and oversee payroll processing for project teams.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, analyze project budgets, and perform forecasting to support project planning and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, perform account analysis, and ensure timely closing of books using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with project managers to track project expenses, review invoices, and ensure proper allocation of costs in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Support regulatory reporting efforts by preparing documentation related to governmental and non-profit accounting standards when applicable.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction accounting or a similar role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent financial management tools.
- Solid understanding of technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Excellent skills in financial report writing and communication of complex financial concepts clearly and accurately.
- Ability to perform detailed balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation efficiently while maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Strong analytical mindset with keen attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
