Most accounting firms stick technically solid people behind a screen and call it a day. That works fine until a client feels like a number instead of a person. At Level, that's where we draw the line.

We're a trades-focused accounting and advisory firm serving contractors across 34 states. We go deep on one industry and do it exceptionally well. Our clients stay 7 years because we make their financial lives genuinely easier and they actually feel it.

WHAT WINNING LOOKS LIKE

On the technical side:

• Books close clean, on time, every month - no mysteries, no "I'll fix that later"
• Bank recs done right the first time, every time
• Payroll on schedule without errors or scrambles
• You catch problems before anyone has to ask
• Files, notes, and documentation current and complete without being reminded

On the client side this is where good becomes great:

• Your clients feel cared for, not just serviced
• You pick up the phone when something's unclear, when a client seems confused, when email is going in circles, you call. You don't hide behind a message thread.
• When something goes sideways, you own it and tell them before they find out on their own
• You translate a confusing P&L into plain language a plumber can actually use
• Your clients would tell someone: "My accountant is amazing."

We call this unreasonable hospitality. We hold everyone on this team to it.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS

• Full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting for a dedicated portfolio of trades clients
• Monthly financial reporting P&L, balance sheet, cash flow clean and client-ready
• Payroll processing (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Sales tax filings and 1099 processing
• Tax preparation support gathering and prepping client files for handoff (not preparing returns yourself)
• QBO setup, cleanup, and ongoing maintenance
• Proactive client communication calls, emails, follow-ups all documented
  
  

Primary tools: QuickBooks Online, Canopy, Double, SharePoint, Zoom, UltraTax, Teams, AI

In-person at our Vero Beach, FL office, MondayFriday. After a successful introductory period, the right person may earn one remote day per week. Presence matters here.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

• A heads-down, hide-behind-your-screen position client interaction is core, not optional
• Slow-moving or predictable we're growing fast and we move accordingly
• A place where AI is someone else's problem we use it, implement it, and you'll lean into it
• Remote-first in-person is the default

WHO THIS IS FOR

You need 4 years of public accounting experience. Not industry. Not a mix. Public real clients, real deadlines, real complexity.

• QBO fluency build it, clean it up, explain it to anyone
• You spot errors in financials before anyone tells you something's wrong
• Payroll and sales tax don't make you nervous
• You pick up the phone proactive communication is just how you operate
• You follow process, improve it when it breaks, and document everything
• Clients want to talk to you, not avoid you
• AI tools make you curious, not anxious

The honest truth: you probably love going deep on details and have strong opinions about chart of accounts structure. That's exactly what we need. We just also need you to bring that same precision to the relationship not just the spreadsheet.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

• You need significant technical training to do the job
• Client conversations feel like interruptions to your real work
• Your first instinct when a client is confused is to send another email
• New tools and fast growth make you want to find somewhere slower

WHAT YOU'LL GET

• Compensation: $55,000$75,000 base salary, with opportunity to earn production incentive pay as you grow your client portfolio
