The Field Operations Foreman (FOF) is a critical member of the Operations team, responsible for overseeing projects and field installation teams from inception through completion. This role serves as a key resource for the Field Operations Manager (FOM) and field teams, ensuring smooth execution of all phases of the Audio-Visual Scope of Work (AV SOW).
The FOF collaborates closely with the Shop, Field Operations, and Project Management teams to maintain seamless communication and coordination. Core responsibilities include active participation in preconstruction, installation, and commissioning phases to deliver defect-free systems ready for client handoff. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and exceptional communication skills to act as a liaison between field teams and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Safety Team to achieve 100% compliance with safety standards.
- Mentor and coach Lead and Field Technicians to enhance technical proficiency.
- Interpret and review installation drawings and documentation (signal flows, facility diagrams, etc.).
- Validate engineering drawings prior to release for construction using AV9000 ER checklist.
- Participate in project kickoff and handoff meetings between engineering and operations.
- Conduct site readiness surveys, documenting structural and electrical details accurately.
- Assist in developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Gantt charts for project scheduling.
- Update drawings based on field conditions and construction requirements.
- Collaborate with fabrication technicians and installation leads to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery.
- Provide technical recommendations during staging and field installation phases.
- Support system commissioning, including loading control files, testing functionality, and validating performance.
- Perform AV9000 commissioning checklists before client turnover.
- Participate in post-project reviews and service handoffs.
- Track project time accurately using the provided tools.
- Attend departmental meetings, vendor demonstrations, and training sessions.
- Travel to local and remote sites within the U.S. as required.
- Provide feedback to leadership on process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Assist Project Managers in leading installation crews, including subcontractors.
- Monitor project budgets and resource utilization to ensure cost-effective delivery.
- Support procurement of tools and supplies with a focus on cost control.
- Participate in performance evaluations and address team challenges as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver fully functional systems.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and with clients.
- Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to AV9000 quality standards.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in reading and redlining AV construction drawings.
- Basic IT networking skills, including switch configuration and IP settings.
- Familiarity with AV platforms such as Biamp, QSC, Crestron, AMX, and Extron.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks and maintain security clearance.
- Willingness to travel and maintain a valid passport.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in AV installation and commissioning preferred.

- L3 Installation Training (AV Documentation, Networking Fundamentals)
- L3 Testing & Commissioning Training (Audio & Video Testing)
- AVIXA CTS Certification (CTS-I preferred)
- AQAV CQT Certification
- Audinate Dante Level 1 & 2
- Q-SYS Level 2
- Biamp Tesira Certification
- OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, Forklift Certification
