Brief Description

Competitive triathletes and passionate bakers, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald left their careers to open a small bread shop in New York City in 1995 — Levain Bakery.

One day, they baked a BIG chocolate chip walnut cookie as energy for triathlon training. At Levain, a batch of these 6-ounce cookies flew off the shelves, and an icon was born. The cozy shop on West 74th Street became a neighborhood favorite and a destination for epicurious visitors from around the world, hungry for “the cookie.”

From the start, Pam, Connie, and the team baked everything fresh on-site each day, donating the day’s leftovers to charity — and we still do, nearly 30 years later. Today, Levain has bakeries across the country (with more to come!), plus ecommerce gift boxes to treat cookie lovers in every state.

THE ROLE: COMMISSARY RECEIVER

Commissary Receivers play a critical role in maintaining the flow of operations by managing all incoming deliveries to our commissary and Ecommerce locations and keeping inventory organized and up to date. The ideal Receiver candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to accurately track ingredients and lot codes, recover inventory daily, and pull ingredients in advance for the production team. The Receiver should also be comfortable operating forklifts and machinery safely and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities:

Team Collaboration:

• Lead with curiosity and compassion by showing care for your co-workers and build meaningful connections that broaden your perspective

• Facilitate open, clear, and timely communication with your team members and management
• Stay informed about new products, procedures, and promotions
  
  

Receiving, Inventory & Ordering

• Receive and record all deliveries, including lot codes for Commissary and ECommerce product
• Verify delivery accuracy and resolve discrepancies with vendors and management
• Inspect delivery trucks upon arrival to ensure cleanliness and compliance with food safety protocols
• Maintain daily inventory of all ingredients and supplies; Manage ordering to maintain minimum inventory levels
• Input delivery and inventory data into inventory management software
• Monitor cooler temperatures regularly to ensure proper storage conditions
  
  

Production Support

• Partner closely with mixers and team members to support production flow and meet daily targets
• Ensure all cookie dough is packaged safely and accurately
• Safely operate manual and electric pallet jacks, as well as forklifts
  
  

Workplace Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and uniform standards
• Actively identify and prevent unsafe practices; report concerns to management
• Demonstrate thoughtful, safe work habits across all commissary operations
• Wear PPE (personal protective equipment) when outside the facility or operating outdoor machinery
  
  

Requirements:

• Experience in professional food manufacturing operation preferred
• Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices
• Open availability: ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as dictated by seasonal or business needs
• Ability to lift/push up to 55 pounds, including overhead
• Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift (excluding a ½ hour break); some locations require walking up and down stairs
