Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Tool Room Attendant to support operations in a busy marine and industrial work environment. This position is responsible for ensuring employees have the tools, equipment, and supplies needed to safely and efficiently perform their work.

The Tool Room Attendant will manage the issuance and return of tools, maintain inventory records, inspect equipment for damage, perform minor repairs, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate replacement and repair needs. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, mechanical aptitude, and experience working with industrial tools and equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Check tools, equipment, and consumables in and out to employees.
• Maintain accurate records of tool assignments and inventory levels.
• Inspect returned tools and equipment for damage, excessive wear, or missing components.
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
• Coordinate repair or replacement of damaged tools.
• Create and maintain replacement lists for tools, batteries, accessories, and consumable components.
• Organize and stock tools to ensure efficient access and accountability.
• Conduct routine inventory counts and cycle audits.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to management.
• Issue personal protective equipment (PPE) and job-specific equipment as required.
• Assist with receiving, labeling, and tracking newly purchased tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support multiple skilled trades including welders, pipefitters, electricians, mechanics, laborers, fabricators, and production personnel.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a tool room, shipyard, industrial facility, manufacturing environment, warehouse, construction company, or maintenance department preferred.
• Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and industrial equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and utilize computer-based inventory systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting marine construction, shipbuilding, fabrication, industrial, or manufacturing operations.
• Inventory control and tool-tracking experience.
• Forklift certification or previous forklift operating experience.
• Familiarity with welding equipment, fabrication tools, cutting equipment, and construction tools.
• Understanding of preventative maintenance and tool repair processes.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to work safely around active industrial operations and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
