OVERVIEW
Under supervision, supports the Program Coordinator in daily operations of the assigned FLYERS afterschool program site for elementary age students. Must be comfortable and able to make decisions and be the person in charge when the Program Coordinator is absent. Continually engages in activities with children and provides quality care and enrichment that enhances children’s social skills, elevates activity level and extends learning in a fun and safe environment.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Complies with all applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations
- Assist Program Coordinator with planning and instructing of academic, recreational, and enrichment activities
- Assist Program coordinator with coaching, mentoring and keeping staff on task when necessary
- Uses proactive decision-making and best practices toward a healthy and safe environment
- Actively engages in student activities with a passion for working with children
- Assure used areas and shared school space is well maintained
- Develops and maintains effective communication and positive working relationships
- Serves as Program Coordinator in Program Coordinator’s absence
- Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others
- Negative PPD/Tuberculosis Testing
- Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child and Youth Protection training; will train
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
