Lerch, Early & Brewer, a full-service law firm located in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking a Collections Paralegal to join our Community Associations Practice Group. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, professional environment while supporting a well-established practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of collections experience, preferably in Community Associations law within a law firm setting
- Proven ability to manage a large, deadline-driven caseload with minimal supervision
- Experience handling high-volume collections matters from referral through resolution, including communication with homeowners and property managers
- Familiarity with Maryland collections procedures and applicable debt collection laws and regulations, including liens, judgments, and garnishments
- Experience tracking accounts, payments, and deadlines using a case management system
- Ability to accurately calculate balances, interest, late fees, and attorneys’ fees
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing legal correspondence and pleadings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to grammar, tone, punctuation, and spelling
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with attorneys and staff
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
In addition, candidates must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
