Automotive Fascia Design Engineer – Auburn Hills, MI (Onsite)

We are seeking a talented and creative Automotive Fascia Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Auburn Hills, MI. In this role, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of fascia assemblies—balancing cutting-edge aesthetics with superior functional performance.
This is a direct hire, onsite position requiring hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams across styling, engineering, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer fascia components, including substrates, bumpers, grille assemblies, bezels, skid plates, baffles, and ducts.
- Ensure final design robustness, quality, and manufacturability.
- Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for prototype and production fascia components.
- Collaborate with styling and engineering teams to ensure seamless alignment with vehicle performance and appearance standards.
- Manage engineering releases and change control processes, including BOM management and PLM documentation.
- Lead new program development—driving design best practices, tooling feasibility reviews, material selection, CAE risk analysis, and milestone coordination.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of plastic materials, mold design, and molding processes.
- Lead cost and weight reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and performance targets.
- Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues using DOE and other advanced problem-solving methodologies.
- Support development of the Exterior Systems technology roadmap, incorporating innovative materials and design concepts.
- Drive continuous improvement in design quality, cost efficiency, and overall product performance.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams and suppliers across the U.S., Europe, and India.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on fascia design and development experience in the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 (a V5 test will be required during the interview process).
- Strong understanding of Teamcenter, DFMEA, BOM, and PLM tools.
- Proven experience launching automotive exterior components from concept through production.
- Working knowledge of plastic materials, tooling, and molding processes.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
- Experience with global teams and suppliers (U.S., Europe, India).
- Demonstrated experience implementing cost and weight reduction initiatives.

Pay: $90, $110,000.00 per year
