Battery Manufacturing Equipment Engineer

What you will be doing:

Our client’s Battery Manufacturing Engineering Department is seeking a motivated engineer to join its Implementation Group. This role will focus on production preparation, equipment implementation, and new model launch for EV battery manufacturing operations.

You will work cross-functionally with engineering, construction management, technicians, equipment vendors, general contractors, and manufacturing teams to take production equipment from planning and procurement through installation, commissioning, trials, and mass-production handoff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop process and implementation plans for battery production lines with support from engineering management.
  • Support equipment procurement, installation planning, commissioning, pre-production trials, and production launch.
  • Coordinate with Engineers, Construction Management, Technicians, Vendors, General Contractors, and other project stakeholders to achieve key milestones.
  • Lead and/or support equipment trials at vendor facilities and on the manufacturing floor after installation.
  • Ensure equipment meets established safety, quality, productivity, and production-readiness targets.
  • Identify punch-list items and support root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation.
  • Track KPIs, support mass-production handover, and assist with production-related issues.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate detailed project and equipment installation schedules.
  • Manage budgets for assigned equipment and project areas.
  • Participate in daily written and verbal project reporting, including updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with domestic and international teams to address open items, schedules, and project milestones.
  • Follow advanced cleanliness and clean-room protocols required within battery manufacturing operations.
  • Complete required internal and external technical training.

What you'll need to be successful:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 3 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production preparation and execution of capital equipment projects, ideally from initial planning through start of mass production.
  • Experience managing or supporting capital investments greater than $500K.
  • Hands-on experience with production equipment installation, commissioning, scheduling, and launch.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed project schedules and track manufacturing equipment installation milestones.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D technical drawings, including facility and process equipment drawings.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar 2D/3D drafting software.
  • Experience with machining and machine operations.
  • Experience with electronic assembly and/or battery-related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working within large-scale manufacturing organizations and complex project environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and scheduled plant shutdown periods, including July and December, as project needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive or battery manufacturing experience.
  • Mitsubishi PLC programming experience.
  • PLC experience with the ability to read, interpret, and modify programs.
  • SCADA systems experience.
  • MES experience.
  • Kepware or similar SCADA/data system experience.
  • Laser welding experience.
  • Strong machining experience.

Salary : $500,000
