About the Opportunity
Lepley Recruiting Services is representing a growing flooring subcontractor in the Mid-Atlantic region seeking a Residential Design Sales & Estimator to support and grow its residential business. This role combines showroom sales, customer relationship management, flooring estimating, project coordination, and technical takeoff responsibilities throughout the full project lifecycle.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing customer-facing sales responsibilities with the technical side of flooring estimating and project execution. Approximately 60% of the role focuses on sales and estimating tied directly to projects you sell, while 40% supports overflow estimating and takeoff responsibilities for additional sales associates.
The role is based in Timonium, MD with travel throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.
What You’ll Do
• Meet with clients in the showroom and at job sites to guide flooring selections and support project development
• Build and maintain strong customer and trade relationships throughout the sales and installation process
• Sell flooring products and installation services while delivering a high level of customer service
• Conduct field measurements and site visits for projects you sell as well as overflow estimating support when needed
• Read construction drawings and project plans using estimating and takeoff software
• Perform material takeoffs, develop cost proposals, and coordinate vendor pricing
• Prepare quotes, proposals, sales orders, and project documentation using RFMS, Structure, spreadsheets, and internal systems
• Coordinate with administrative and operations teams regarding work orders, scheduling, timelines, and project execution
• Monitor projects through completion and help resolve issues throughout the installation process
• Coordinate with accounting teams regarding project payments and collections
• Follow timelines for estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and customer follow-up
• Research product availability and maintain strong flooring product knowledge including warranties and installation methods
• Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance expectations
• Collaborate effectively with showroom staff, operations teams, and internal departments
What We’re Looking For
• Experience in flooring, interiors, estimating, construction, or related building materials industries preferred
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• Experience with RFMS, Structure, or similar estimating/project software preferred
• Strong technical understanding of flooring products, installation methods, and estimating processes
• Strong communication, organization, and customer relationship skills
• Ability to balance sales responsibilities with detailed estimating and project coordination work
• Self-motivated with strong follow-through and attention to detail
• Comfortable managing multiple projects, timelines, and customer relationships simultaneously
• Positive, professional, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving ability
Work Environment & Travel
• On-site role based in Timonium, MD
• Travel throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia as needed
• Approximately 50% travel required
• Combination of showroom, office, and job-site responsibilities
• Monday through Friday schedule with occasional weekend flexibility as needed
