Description
LeoTerra is actively seeking experienced heavy equipment operators.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment for clearing, grubbing, site striping, mass grading, fine grading, roadway installation, erosion control work/monitoring and other related activities.
- Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment.
- Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist with preparing the construction site each day by preparing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Various tasks requiring the ability to operate heavy equipment (roller, dozer, excavator, front end loader, off road trucks, skid steer, mini, etc.) at a basic level.
- Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site, or highway construction and excavation.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and provides required reports. Any defects or needed repairs should be reported to the asset manager; cleans equipment.
- Properly follows all state and federal agencies safety procedures; brings problems to the attention of the General Superintendent, Superintendent, safety director or HR manager.
- Promotes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain certifications required by all state and federal agencies and company safety programs.
- Flexibility of working hours and locations.
- Ability to use computer, software, and related tools to complete assigned tasks.
Experience & Requirements
- Must have at least one year of experience as a heavy equipment operator.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screening.
- A motor vehicle report will be run on anyone considered for this position.
- Desire to learn and grow professionally.
- Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to compute basic numbers, read scales and use simple fractions.
- Intermediate level of comprehension regarding reading residential design plans, develop erosion, earth moving, and utilities plan.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Integrity, credibility, and commitment to company vision.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, email communications and electronic time-card.
- Valid drivers license.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk/communicate and receive information verbally. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk expansive project sites (rough terrain). The employee must regularly lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
