1. Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)


Plan, manage and execute the electrical systems and/or avionics work scope, associated with STC and 337 Major Alterations on Leonardo aircraft. Closely coordinate with Leonardo Helicopter Engineering in Cascina Costa to establish requirements and to develop & release data in the Part 145 tools and infrastructure that support LHD product strategies.


Maintain and develop systems engineering capabilities with respect to avi/electrical work to be performed in Engineering.


Responsible for support of all electrical and avionics work scope at AWPC Part 145 facilities. This includes response and support of Part 145 maintenance activities, support of FAA Form 337 Alterations and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects.


Apply avi/electrical engineering expertise to develop optimum design solutions that satisfy the customer whilst retaining commercial viability and consistency with LHD design strategies.

Conducts specification reviews, development program timelines and reports,

design reviews, specifications, design documents, user guides, work instructions, test plans, test procedures and technical reports.

Management of avi/electrical aspects of major alterations, including work breakdown structure and tasking of activities

Liaise with Program Management and other internal customers and suppliers to define specifications and system architecture.

Respond to engineering issues affecting P145 aircraft operations and in-service aircraft and support functions.

Identifying improvements to new installations that will improve customer satisfaction and address issues.

6.

Manag workload for avi/electrical engineers and designers, review task priorities

and set deadlines for work schedules, to meet contract requirements

7.

Take responsibility for the qualification/certification of new systems or modifications and provide sign off in accordance with FAA regulations

8.

Support to the Bid phase producing designs preparing systems trade studies, identifying costs and impacts.

Prepare and review documentation, technical requirements, specifications,

design documents, user guides, work instructions, test plans, test procedures

and technical reports.

  1. Qualifications for Position:

A. Education

B.S. in Aerospace/Electrical/Avionics Engineering or equivalent.

B. Experience

10 years experience with 5 years in aviation, preferably with an Airframe OEM, preferably on rotorcraft

A Masters in Structural Engineering and/or PhD can substitute for 5 of the 10 years.

C. Competencies & Attributes

1.

Knowledge of AutoCAD, CATIA V4/V5 and/or Capital Logic (MentorGraphics)

2.

Plans, organizes and controls own and activities of reporting staff to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

3.

Excellent knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations Part 27 and 29

4.

Strong written, PC and oral communication skills.

5.

Ability to liaise with others and manage own team to meet deadlines

6.

Ability to work in a team environment. Good interpersonal skills, team player

7.

Able to work with a high degree of personal autonomy

8.

Knowledge of technical Italian language preferred; liaison with the Italian design team will be required
