Job Summary
Leonardo DRS Land Electronics in Melbourne, FL is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, modification, and analysis of electronic systems across areas such as hardware, power engineering/power electronics, electromagnetics, integrated circuits, and components. The role includes troubleshooting existing products, compiling and evaluating design/test data, recommending design approaches, and using computer-aided engineering tools as needed. The engineer will support technical activities under the guidance of senior engineers, provide regular status reporting, complete assigned tasks on time to technical requirements, help evaluate supplier components and services, and assist with design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture efforts. Additional responsibilities include supporting prototype development to reduce key risks, participating in peer and milestone reviews, and releasing BOMs and documentation into configuration management systems.

Job Responsibilities
- Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems. May include Hardware, Power Engineering, Power Electronic Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components or others. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed. Compile and evaluate design and test data. Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches.
- Support and participate in technical activity
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
- Ability to work independently under supervision of others
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- May participate in preparation of less complex proposals
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Acitvely participate in peer and project milestone reviews
- Release bill or materials and documentation into configuration management systems
- Novice technical expertise and application domain knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer engineering
- Ability to work independently, under the guidance of senior engineers, and in a collaborative team environment
- Previous internships and co-ops in the defense, aerospace, and automotive industries a plus
- Circuit or system design based senior project a plus
