What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Process Server position at Leon County Sheriff's Office?
This position performs entry level work in support of the law enforcement functions of the agency. The majority of duties involve serving legal documents pursuant to statutory guidelines within the Civil Division. Employees in this classification perform routine field work as prescribed in Chapter 48 of the Florida State Statutes. The position is responsible for the delivery, recording and distribution of legal documents including, but not necessarily limited to, non-enforceable writs, subpoenas, and criminal summons. This position adheres to the agency core values of honesty and integrity, accountability, teamwork, trust and respect and commitment to excellence. To be successful in this position, the employee must demonstrate competency time management skills, basic to intermediate computer skills, general communication skills (both written and oral), inter-personal skills, customer service skills, problem solving skills and basic driving skills.
Serve Civil Process papers. Prepare schedule for service of process by planning daily route. Conduct inquires to determine location of process to be served. Review assigned Civil Processes to include subpoenas, tax documents, child support paperwork and other civil documents issued by the Court. Drive an agency vehicle in all situation under varying weather conditions, adhering to all traffic laws. Ability to work closely with others as a team. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present clear, accurate, concise, and objective written and oral reports. Ability to meet requirements and maintain required licensures and certifications as well as agency required in-service training. Ability to adhere to the standards and principles of the agency's core values and professionally represent the agency. Ability to report to work timely, consistently and as scheduled. Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the work place.
- High School Diploma or GED required; AND
- Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull a minimum of 25 pounds independently. Position requires constant safe operation of a motor vehicle. Requires some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Work is performed with exposure to risk and elements including bright/dim light, dusts, pollen, extreme heat and cold, wet or humid conditions, fluctuating noise levels, traffic conditions, animals/wildlife, and pathogens. Position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
Salary : $34,746
