Job Summary
The Manatee Clerk Payroll division provides payroll services to the staff of Manatee County Board of County Commissioners, SeaPort Manatee, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Supervisor of Elections and Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. The Clerk III/Payroll position is a full-time, non-supervisory position reporting to the Payroll Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Three to Five years of recent and relevant payroll experience that demonstrates the ability to apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment
- Basic mathematical aptitude and proficiency with ten key data entry are required
- Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite
- Working knowledge of the division’s procedures, terminology and systems
- Demonstrated proficiency by successfully performing at the Clerk II level
- Experience with Excel

Essential Functions

- Provides excellent customer service to all in person, in email and over the phone; is approachable, helpful and personable; and answers questions knowledgeably and with patience
- Initiates and maintains a complete and accurate record using the financial and scanning software system and established division procedures
- Complies with the payroll polices of the Board of County Commissioner (BCC), Clerk of the Circuit Court (Clerk), Port Manatee (Port), Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Supervisor of Elections (SOE)
- Has mastered working knowledge of the Payroll Division, including producing the payroll for BCC, Clerk, MPO, Port, SOE poll workers, following State & Federal rules and regulations governing payroll processing, tax and FRS reporting requirements. Manages tasks and work flow efficiently to meet deadlines, with minimal supervision.
- Utilizes current timekeeping, payroll management and imaging software to fulfill payroll functions
- Prepares and submits required payroll reports
- Assist in training Payroll Clerks I and II
- Participates in division cross training initiatives to acquire knowledge and skill sets to support efficient functioning of the assigned division work
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Overtime may be necessary at times
