ELA INTERVENTIONIST
The Reading Interventionist provides targeted literacy instruction and support to students identified through the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This role is responsible for delivering evidence-based interventions, analyzing student data through consistent data cycles, and collaborating with teachers to improve reading outcomes across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Literacy, Reading, or related field preferred
- MA Teacher Certification - ELA or related field
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates strong foundational knowledge and implements effective intervention practices aligned with the core elements of the Science of Reading
- Teach 5 sections of an intervention class for a small group of students, Grade 6-8
- Strong belief that all students can reach grade-level potential
- Conduct regular progress monitoring aligned to both MTSS expectations
- Effectiveness of instructional strategies
- Participate in structured data meetings to evaluate the effectiveness
- Administer and analyze universal screeners, diagnostic assessments, and formative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and intervention effectiveness.
- Provide a written report of progress to the admin, families, and students every cycle
- Ability to analyze multiple sources of student data to:
- Lead and participate with building administrator ongoing data cycles (e.g., every 4–6 weeks) to assess student growth and adjust interventions.
- Group students into cohorts
- Adjust pacing or supports within the curriculum
- Recommend movement between MTSS tiers
- Communicate student progress in reading, including growth within to families.
- Provide families with strategies to support reading at home (e.g., discussion prompts, reading routines).
- Advocate for students by ensuring interventions are responsive, equitable, and culturally relevant.
