Job Description

Successful candidates will support additive manufacturing (3D printing) and multi-discipline chemical and physical testing activities within a fast-paced service laboratory environment. This role will support manufacture and development of BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) products used in commercial, scientific, and military applications. The technician will work hands on with 3D printing equipment, laboratory instrumentation, and hardware. This position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, customer service, and the ability to follow established written and verbal procedures and developmental processes with minimal supervision.

What You Ll Do

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support additive manufacturing (3D printing) development and production activities, including building and processing prototype and critical hardware.
  • Operate, maintain, modify, and troubleshoot 3D printing systems, chambers, fixtures, and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct chemical and physical tests, collect, analyze, reduce, and accurately document data.
  • Work safely with chemicals, cryogenics, adhesives, hand tools, and power tools in laboratory, cleanroom, machine shop, and production environments.
  • Read, interpret, and execute technical procedures and specifications; maintain accurate electronic build records and logs in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Implement EHS processes and procedures, recognize safety hazards, including hazardous materials.
  • Support engineering in development of processes, fixtures, schematics, and specifications. Provide technical input and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, training, and task coordination for junior technicians as assigned.
  • Operate company-owned vehicles as required.
  • Travel locally between campuses as required (Westminster, Boulder, Broomfield); Perform temporary and permanent duties at these locations as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities May Include:
  • Environmental tests including vacuum, thermal cycling, elevated, and cryogenic temperature testing.
  • Mix, blend, apply, cure, and test adhesives, lubricants, and other specialized materials.
  • Conduct mechanical property testing at ambient, elevated, and cryogenic temperatures.
  • Support electrostatic discharge testing and compliance.
  • Conduct molecular and particle contamination activities, including cleanroom sampling.
  • Perform cross-sectional sample preparation and optical/digital microscopy inspections.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level, related degree, i.e., Bachelor s or Master s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Proven interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with chemicals and equipment used in a chemical and physical testing laboratory.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry, documentation, and instrument controls.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Mathematical skills such as calculating area and volume of geometric shapes.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Associate degree or technical certification in science, additive manufacturing, or engineering.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing / 3D printing equipment including operation and maintenance.
  • Experience in regulated/GMP environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory and cleanroom protocols.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $47614 - $76181

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
