About The Role

As aSustainability Director, you will lead ESG and sustainability initiatives for a major CBRE client. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in real estate investment management, sustainability program implementation, and client advisory-paired with strong leadership capabilities and a collaborative mindset.

The successful candidate will manage the contract relationship, acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader to design and operate a multi-faceted sustainability services program. The Director will ensure alignment between the Client organization and other departments within CBRE to maximize value creation and ensure excellence in operational delivery, providing direction and oversight to a client-dedicated team to positively contribute and comprehensively manage the fulfilment of our commitment to the client.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and execution of sustainability strategies for investor clients, aligning with global ESG standards and client goals.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to a real estate investment management firm, providing guidance on ESG integration, performance improvement, and regulatory alignment.
  • Oversee and elevate GRESB reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strategic value.
  • Drive portfolio-level decarbonization strategies, including emissions baselining, net zero target setting, and roadmap development.
  • Collaborate with asset and portfolio managers to embed sustainability into investment decisions and operational practices.
  • Lead data management and software integration efforts, including implementation and optimization of third-party software platforms.
  • Manage complex client engagements and cross-functional project teams, ensuring high-impact delivery and stakeholder alignment.
  • Support green building certification efforts and advise on climate risk, energy efficiency, and sustainability disclosures.

  • Champion cross-functional partnerships across Investor Services, ESG, and operational teams.
  • Represent the sustainability function in leadership forums, client meetings, and industry events.
  • Drive thought leadership and contribute to the evolution of our sustainability service offerings.

What You'll Need

To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily.   • 8 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental strategy, with a strong focus on real estate investment management.
  • Proven leadership in project and client management, with experience advising senior stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in GRESB reporting and ESG frameworks.
  • Experience working in-house or in an advisory capacity for real estate investment firms.
  • Strong background in sustainability data systems and software integration.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing decarbonization strategies.
  • Bonus: LEED, BREEAM, or other green building certifications; experience in climate risk analysis or net zero planning.
