CNO Financial Group is hiring a Staff Internal Auditor to be responsible for executing audit procedures and documenting and communicating results. The Staff Auditor assists in formulating recommendations regarding control deficiencies and system ineffectiveness, as well as identifying areas for improvement, process efficiency and cost control.

As a Staff Internal Auditor, Your Responsibilities Will Include

This position is considered a hybrid position, requiring the associates to live within a 60-mile radius of our corporate office Carmel, IN office will have access to come in on a hybrid model and will be required to come onsite from time to time. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.

As a Staff Internal Auditor, Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Performing financial (includes SOX), operational, and compliance audits in addition to assigned consulting engagements to evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Actively participating in the execution of audit planning procedures to: 1) gain understanding of business processes and control activities as well as industry best practices and regulatory requirements and 2) identify business objectives, significant risks and key and compensating controls, including design gaps, within the internal control environment.
- Assisting in the development of audit approach and testing procedures.
- Executing specific testing procedures and preparing workpapers documenting the procedures performed and related results.
- Assisting in evaluating testing results given the identified unmitigated risks to determine root cause of issues and criticality of unmitigated risks
- Assisting in the development of a clear and concise deliverable to communicate the issues and related recommendations to management.
- Executing assigned follow-up testing procedures to determine whether remediation activities have been implemented.
- Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibit strong ethics and honesty
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with others both internally and externally
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or eight years of relevant experience as equivalent
- One year of relevant experience working in a business environment involving accounting/finance, IT, or operations
- CPA, CIA or other professional designation (CISA, CFE, etc.)
- Experience in internal or external audit and/or the insurance industry
- Ability to occasionally come onsite to our Carmel campus to collaborate with team when needed
