The Sr. Director, Leadership & Organizational Development (L&OD) at NRG Energy is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for shaping the company’s talent development strategy, strengthening organizational capability, and building a high‑performance, inclusive culture. This role oversees the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs, leadership development, organizational effectiveness initiatives, and culture‑building efforts that enable business growth and workforce readiness.
The Sr. Director partners closely with executives, Talent & Culture leaders, and business stakeholders across NRG to diagnose organizational needs, develop integrated solutions, and drive measurable impact across the employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of NRG’s enterprise Learning & Organizational Development strategy aligned to business priorities.
- Design and deploy scalable leadership and professional development programs that strengthen capability at all levels and support a robust leadership pipeline.
- Conduct organizational assessments and drive organizational effectiveness, team performance, and culture‑building initiatives across NRG.
- Partner with Change Management to support major transformation efforts and build change leadership capability.
- Partner with Employee Experience, Learning Enablement, Talent Business Partners, and business leaders to address critical capability gaps, support succession planning, and guide organizational design and team health.
- Partner with Learning Enablement team to modernize learning experiences through digital tools, platforms, and technologies that enable continuous learning and skill development.
- Establish metrics, dashboards, and evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and organizational interventions, providing insights to senior leadership.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing L&OD team while managing budgets, resources, and vendor partnerships.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or Talent Management.
- 5 years leading enterprise L&OD strategy, including leadership development and organizational effectiveness.
- Experience advising senior executives and influencing enterprise-wide decisions.
- Deep expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, OD methodologies, and change management.
- Strong business acumen, analytical capability, and strategic thinking.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Master’s degree in Organizational Development, HR, I/O Psychology, or related field preferred.
- Certifications such as Prosci, Hogan, Korn Ferry, or similar are a plus.
