Overview Of Primary Responsibilities
The Social Media and Communications Coordinator plays a key role in sharing the stories of the people and communities we serve and our work with them. This position is responsible for creating and managing engaging, mission-driven content across social media platforms and digital and traditional communications channels. The Coordinator will work closely with staff and program participants to highlight successes, promote services, and support development and advocacy efforts. This is an opportunity for a creative, compassionate communicator to help elevate the voices of people with mental health, substance use, and developmental disability-related needs.

Primary Functions
Social Media Management (50%)
- Develop and manage a content calendar aligned with agency priorities and campaigns.
- Create original, accessible, and engaging content (text, photo, video, stories, reels) for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.
- Monitor engagement, respond to messages and comments, and escalate concerns when appropriate.
- Track and analyze performance metrics to inform content strategy and report on reach and impact.
- Attend Access: Network events, as needed, to capture images and video for social media;
- Ensure appropriate releases are obtained before publishing images and/or stories and maintains database of releases;
- Collaborate with staff and people we support to gather stories that reflect our mission, impact, and values.
- Write compelling content for newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and donor communications.
- Support the development and execution of digital campaigns tied to fundraising, awareness, and advocacy.
- Maintain and update website content, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
- Assists with copywriting for other publications, including annual reports, letter and report writing.
- Partner with program, development, and leadership teams to promote services, events, and milestones.
- Assist in implementing communications strategies that strengthen our brand and increase engagement.
- Uphold a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to storytelling and imagery.
- Provide support with event planning, meeting preparations, including virtual and in-person community education events, including, but not limited to: booking rooms, capturing registrations, ordering/setting-up food/beverage, scheduling virtual meetings, disseminating information and links, etc.;
- Proficiency with social media platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and design tools (e.g., Canva).
- Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and effectively with diverse individuals, including staff and people receiving services, to gather and share stories.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a clear, compassionate voice.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications at an advanced level
- Experience taking and editing photos;
- Experience reviewing and editing the written and graphic design work of others;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications and/or Canva is a plus;
- Experience with video production is a plus;
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or nonprofit storytelling.
