We have an exciting opportunity for a SkillBridge Internship/Fellowship - Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team.
At our company, we help transitioning service members, from all branches of the U.S. Military, prepare for new opportunities and connections in their careers. Do you want to work onsite at NASA in Houston with a dynamic team to build out the next generation spacecraft integration and test facility? If so, this opportunity may be for you. Our company has teamed up with the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program to provide career opportunities.
** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. **
** This is a temporary role not to exceed 24 weeks. **

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing engineering environment with demanding customers on a compressed schedule
- Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills with internal and external customers
- Interface with NASA Software and Hardware Engineering Leads
- Perform assessment for completeness of design and implementation throughout the full software and hardware development lifecycle
- Support the development of CDR and manufacturing readiness review products and participate in module system reviews
- Develop cybersecurity requirements for spacecraft systems
- Work with the spacecraft module vendors to establish cybersecurity plans and verify compliance
- Perform cybersecurity oversight and impact assessments
- Support cybersecurity incident investigation and resolution
- Ensure systems comply with scanning of spacecraft systems per government, NASA, and Johnson Space Center specific requirements
- Ensure findings in the security assessment report are addressed and closed through remediation or risk assessment
- Coordinate with external organizations to perform cybersecurity remediation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Here's What You'll Need
- To have served at least 180 days in any of the U.S. Armed Forces
- To be within 180 days of separation or retirement from any of the U.S. Armed Forces (you may start your application prior to the 180 days)
- Must be on track to receive an Honorable Discharge
- Must have taken any service TAPS/TGPS
- Must have attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
- Must have command approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
- Eligible for US Govt Top Secret security clearance
- Self-motivated, team player, and adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products
- Experience organizing and prioritizing tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules.
- Experience with preparing written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Experience with effectively interacting with customers and management at all levels.
- Experience with cybersecurity impact assessment and remediation
- Familiarity with cybersecurity controls and requirements
- Experience in risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measure
- Ability to prepare written documents/presentations and to verbally present at various meetings
- Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
- Effectively communicate across a wide range of technical disciplines, with vendors/contractors, direct customers and upper management
