From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company—one that celebrates coffee and connection while creating opportunities for partners (employees) to thrive. Today, with more than 400,000 partners around the world, we remain committed to being the best job in retail. Our Global Communications and Corporate Affairs team plays a critical role in shaping that story—informing, engaging, and inspiring internal and external audiences in ways that build trust and connection.

As senior manager, Retail Communications, you will lead internal communications strategies and campaigns that help partners understand and feel confident in Starbucks commitment to creating the best job in retail. This role is focused on reaching and engaging partners in our U.S. coffeehouses and will partner closely with Partner Resources (PRO), Labor Relations, Legal, external communications, and cross-functional teams to deliver clear, timely, and transparent communications that reinforce our values and strengthen partner-to-partner relationships. You’ll need to be a strategic thinker, a strong writer, and a trusted advisor who can navigate complex topics and drive compelling communications and content, with clarity and empathy. This is a highly visible role that requires confidence, discretion, and the ability to influence and build trust across teams.

This role is central to our mission of making Starbucks the best job in retail for everyone who wears the green apron. By helping coffeehouse partners feel informed and supported, you’ll strengthen trust, reinforce our values, and contribute to a culture where every partner feels connected and empowered. This is particularly important as we continue to invest deeply in the retail partner experience as part of our Back to Starbucks strategy.

As a senior manager, retail communications , you will…

  • L ead Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute internal communications strategies that support labor relations priorities and reinforce Starbucks commitment to partners.
  • Create Clear, Human Messaging: Translate complex topics into simple, actionable communications that build trust and reduce confusion.
  • Partner Across Teams: Work closely with Labor Relations, Retail Communications, Legal, and External Communications to ensure alignment and consistency across channels.
  • Manage Campaigns: Drive integrated campaigns alongside our broader communications team that inform and engage partners on key topics, leveraging retail communication channels in our coffeehouses.
  • Advise Leaders: Serve as a trusted communications counselor to senior leaders on labor topics, providing scenarios, options, and recommendations.
  • Monitor & Respond: Help manage internal questions related to labor relations communications, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
