Description
The Semel Institute is seeking a full time Research Technician to be responsible for assisting with mouse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) experiments. Under the direction and mentorship of the Principal Investigator you will complete the following task:
- Mouse stereotaxic surgery
- Behavior experiments
- Mouse breeding colony management
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) experiments
- Mouse perfusions, brain sectioning, histology, epifluorescence or confocal microscopy
- Attending weekly research meeting
- Performing other research-related duties as required.
Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with other lab members in the context of team-based research projects.
- Skill in hands-on experimental techniques, basic troubleshooting and ability to follow detailed research protocols.
- Proficiency in data management and organization of technical information.
- B.S. preferred
- At least one year of prior neuroscience, laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience working with mice is strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills preferred, knowledge of Matlab programming is a plus.
- Prior experience with mouse behavior combined with neural recording/manipulation is preferred.
- Prior experience with stereotaxic surgery is a plus.
