The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Adipocyte culture, mouse models of obesity and insulin resistance, molecular biology, whole animal metabolic investigations, genomic analyses. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include Lead a research project focused on adipose (fat) tissue remodeling in response to changing metabolic and environmental conditions (e.g. obesity, environmental temperature).
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop a high impact research project with the potential to reveal new treatment strategies for metabolic diseases. The applicant will acquire training in studying adipose tissue, metabolism and obesity-related disease using a variety of techniques. The applicant will also have the opportunity to train and mentor junior researchers.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience.
