- Schedules interviews in order to assess the functional limitations and vocational potential of possible rehabilitation consumers.
- Determines eligibility for rehabilitation services after reviewing comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluations.
- Coordinates consumers' plan of rehabilitation to include agreements providing vocational guidance and counseling, training programs, and other needed services utilizing available resources to achieve maximum rehabilitation.
- Maintains knowledge of accommodations/technology to remove or eliminate barriers to employment.
- Interacts with the consumer to assess his/her needs and problems to determine the best solution vocationally and socially, and assists the consumer with improving interpersonal skills, understanding the labor market, and achieving successful employment.
- Provides counseling to consumers, family members, and significant others in relation to the vocational plan, services provided, and the expected outcome.
- Maintains adequate caseload flow and organization.
- Schedules supervisory meetings with the consumer, returns phone calls, processes mail, and is responsible for the appropriate expenditure of public funds.
- Maintains an extensive network of employer contacts and labor market information to assist consumers in achieving employment.
