Located on a large, breath-taking private ranch on the outskirts of beautiful Cedar City, Discovery Ranch for Girls is a licensed, accredited residential treatment center for for adolescent females struggling with emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. Discovery Ranch South combines the power of traditional and experiential therapies to help young women and their families heal. Healthy relationships, novel and challenging experiences, and a strengths-based approach are how we foster lasting change.
As our Recreation Assistant, you will work closely with our Recreation Director to plan and facilitate safe, meaningful, and fun experiential activities for our students, both on and off campus. Recreation that aligns with our clinical philosophy offers novel and challenging experiences through which students gain insight into their behaviors and beliefs. These activities encourage self-reflection and help students develop new passions, outlets, and healthy coping strategies.
This is a part-time position (approximately 16 hours per week, typically Fridays and Saturdays), primarily focused on outdoor recreation such as hiking, skiing, climbing, and similar activities. Additional hours may be available assisting with residential care, including group facilitation and supporting daily routines.

Please Note
- A high level of skiing or snowboarding ability is required for this position.
- There is potential for this role to evolve into a full-time position based on performance, program needs, and staff interest.
Requirements
- Experienced Ski or Snowboarder (3-5 years)
- 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to pass criminal investigation background checks
- Able to pass motor vehicle record check
- Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment)
- CPR/1ST AID required (we provide), Wilderness First Responder preferred
