Job Title: R&D Technician

Job Description

This temporary position supports a project focused on reformulating products to remove ingredients of concern, specifically FD&C colors, due to state and federal regulations. The role involves bench-level reformulation, analytical testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate existing formulations.
• Prepare control and negative control samples at the bench level.
• Reformulate using naturally available options to replace colors.
• Conduct analytical testing, including pH, Brix, viscosity, titratable acidity, salt, and Minolta colorimeter assessments.
• Perform accelerated shelf-life testing.
• Track project progress and maintain documentation.
• Create technical documents to guide the plant in ingredient substitution.
• Perform administrative tasks related to the project.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Technical attention to detail.
• Bench and laboratory work experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Familiarity with running analyses and interpreting data.
• Ability to accurately measure and source ingredients for formula creation.
• Understanding of order of addition and repeatable procedures.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, Biology, or Biochemistry.
• Experience in dressings and sauce product development.
• General knowledge of laboratory equipment and formulation.
  
  

Work Environment

The position is located in Brea, working on-site five days a week. The start time is between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM, with an 8-hour workday. This role offers a great opportunity to gain experience within R&D with a chemistry background .

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Brea, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
