Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee all Quality and Laboratory Services functions at our Regional Manufacturing facility. This role involves managing daily activities related to product compositing and testing, ensuring compliance with GMPs and Food Safety Programs, and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regional Quality Assurance support and leadership as a key member of the Aurora Management Team.
- Directly supervise the Quality Assurance team, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Collaborate with the Aurora Management Team to foster a strong Quality Behavior-Based environment in manufacturing.
- Manage a team of Quality & Food Safety Technicians, Coordinator, and Quality Lab Manager to enhance quality principles and practices.
- Support the AFB Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with standards across regions and Corporate Quality Assurance.
- Provide data and analysis to the Aurora Management Team to inform business decisions and drive continuous improvements.
- Develop, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using the AssurX Quality Management System.
- Utilize Statistical Process Control software to monitor product performance, identify issues, and develop sustainable solutions.
- Track key quality metrics and report to the Aurora Management Team to support business operations.
- Provide training, support, and services to ensure high-quality production and minimize deviations and out-of-specification occurrences.
- Participate in internal and external Quality Audits, including Customer, Certification, Regulatory, and Corporate Compliance Audits.
- Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs to support GFSI SQF Certification and Food Safety guidelines.
- Coach, mentor, and provide training opportunities to Quality Assurance staff to promote continuous learning and development.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, food science, food safety, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of progressive professional industry experience, with 2 or more years in supervisory/leadership roles.
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility and familiarity with GFSI schemes such as SQF, BRC, and FSSC.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify root causes, drive improvements, and sustain results.
- Excellent communication skills to influence a Food Safety and Quality culture in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of safety practices applicable to manufacturing and the ability to follow designated safety procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and use electronic means for data recording.
