Pay : $35-41/hr depending on experience and background

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Protein Scientist to join our clients dynamic research team in Crop Science. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting research and development projects through protein quantification, characterization, identification, and sample preparation. This hands-on role involves working in a collaborative, data-driven environment focused on delivering high-quality results to advance our scientific goals.

Key Responsibilities

Protein Quantification & Identification

• Perform ELISA assays (automated and semi-automated) for protein quantification
• Conduct western blotting (WES) for protein identification and semi-quantification
• Analyze and interpret experimental data; document results in LIMS and other data systems
• Prepare samples for immunoassays
• Support shared lab responsibilities and maintain laboratory instruments
  
  

Additional Responsibilities May Include

Protein Characterization

• Perform SDS-PAGE and gel imaging
• Conduct protease digestion and time-course experiments
• Prepare samples for downstream mass spectrometry
  
  

Protein Purification

• Express recombinant proteins using bacterial, yeast, and insect cell systems
• Purify proteins using various chromatography techniques (e.g., affinity, ion exchange)
  
  

Functional Assays

• Conduct protein activity assays (e.g., enzyme kinetics, binding assays)
  
  

Qualifications

• M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field; or B.S. with relevant industry experience
• Demonstrated expertise in ELISA and western blotting techniques
• Experience with LIMS, liquid handling systems, and lab automation
• Hands-on experience with protein expression and purification methods
• Familiarity with mass spectrometry workflows
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
• Adherence to lab safety protocols and best practices
  
  

Work Environment & Expectations

• Hands-on work: 70–90% bench-based (assays, sample prep, gel analysis)
• Team interaction: Daily collaboration within the Protein Analytics team (10 people); occasional cross-functional work with the larger Protein Science group (45 people)
• Pace: Fast-moving, research-focused environment requiring initiative and project ownership
• Lab Safety: PPE required (gloves, goggles); work primarily in a wet lab
• Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
• Chemical Handling: Use of bacterial, yeast, and insect cell materials, antibodies, and common lab cleaning reagents

Pay Details: $35.00 to $41.00 per hour
