The Opportunity

Our Dallas Cards facility is seeking a Production Manager to provide oversight and leadership in the assigned departments. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations; proactively manage departmental metrics that impact cost; ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures; ensure compliance to all S.O.Ps, work instructions and GMPs; foster a team atmosphere, provide vision, and demonstrate support of the company's core processes. The Production Manager is ultimately responsible for day-to-day management of assigned departments, through the management of supervisory staff, including achieving production goals, managing performance of direct reports, making sound operational decisions, solving problems, and managing conflict.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock

  • Ensure assigned departments meet production and quality goals on a daily basis.
  • Identify, document and drive departmental metrics for Productivity, Safety, Quality, Waste and any other metrics required by the company.
  • Ensure staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards.
  • Manage supervisory performance by setting goals and consistently holding supervisors accountable for meeting performance standards.
  • Ensure direct reports have professional development plans and that those plans are executed in the timeframes specified.
  • Ensure training is conducted in Safety, GMPs, Quality systems rules and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures.
  • Function well in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Make sound operational decisions.
  • Understand the functions and capabilities of various departments and use those resources effectively.
  • Analyze root causes and solve problems effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Use data to improve productivity.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire individual workers and teams.
  • Manage conflict effectively.
  • Lead change.
  • Own issues and problems, seeing them through to resolution.
  • Identify with and support company leadership and company decisions.
  • Ensure that employees are cross-trained and given opportunities to continually learn new things.
  • Ensure that employees are being recognized appropriately for good performance.
  • Build collaborative relationships within the organization.
  • Ensure that potential safety problems are resolved and that safety audits are responded to appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure that both internal and external corrective actions are appropriately addressed.
  • Lead effective shift meetings.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Associates degree in related field (Engineering or Business) or equivalent related work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering preferred.
  • 3- 5 years of manufacturing management experience.
  • 7-10 years of manufacturing experience, preferably with at least 5 years in the printing industry.
  • Strong math and measurement skills to understand, track, analyze, and report on operating metrics.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office and related software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven record of fostering teamwork and establishing effective safety programs.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
