UW Medical Center-Northwest - Endoscopy has an outstanding opportunity for a Procedure Medical Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Endoscopy Suite at Northwest provides the full range of endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic and screening colonoscopy and upper endoscopy as well as advanced therapeutic interventions including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound, wireless capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy. Our endoscopy center also has therapeutic options and techniques not yet available elsewhere, such as endoscopic submucosal dissection for treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.

- Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
- Part-time, 75% FTE (30 hours per week)
- These will be 3x10 hour shifts and 4x10 hour shifts
- Day Shift

- Obtain specimens
- Follow regulatory guidelines and policies to clean and store endoscopes
- Call and educate patients on their upcoming procedure; provide instructions and escalate scheduling concerns
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers
- Assist in transporting patients as required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
