The Printing Manager is responsible for leading the printing department in a 24x7 operation, which includes Department Leads (hourly) and a skilled hourly workforce of ~ 35 associates. The role is responsible for administering operating systems and processes to ensure the department safely and efficiently produces to service the needs of our customers.
- Aligns with and understands the goals of the Business and develops resources and strategies to implement within the web department.
- Manages hourly leads and associates in the department including crew schedule, payroll, production scheduling, materials and supplies ordering and inventory, understanding of technical capabilities, and performance accountabilities.
- Creates, implements, and monitors work processes to achieve compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental regulations, and corporate standards.
- Creates, and monitors metrics to identify performance against goals and provides a continuous improvement strategy to improve.
- Manages the department policies, procedures, and systems (e.g., standard work files) consistent with plant and company standards, and holds department associates accountable for executing to those standards.
- Conducts performance evaluations and mentorship to the department.
- Actively supports and executes employee skills development of all department personnel.
- Participates in the Plant Leadership Team; participates in or leads initiatives on its behalf.
- Relentlessly drives continuous improvements in safety, compliance, maintenance, housekeeping, productivity, waste reduction and employee development.
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred - Graphic Arts, Business, Engineering
- High School diploma or GED is required
- 3-5 years leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Offset lithographic, multi color printing is preferred
- Basic understanding of machinery and processes
- Understanding of HACCP, SQF is preferred
- Track-record using manufacturing management software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, TPM, and other improvement philosophies)
- Track-record in developing strategies to attain performance objectives.
- Experience in organizational development activities & communicating effectively in writing to develop and document processes and procedures; and verbally in group and one-on-one situations to lead and coach subordinates, explain company policies, and resolve conflicts.
