Breast Surgery - Physician Assistant
Catholic Health breast health specialists across Long Island provide expert care for the diagnosis and treatment of benign, noncancerous breast tumors and diseases. Our compassionate team treats each woman individually. We listen closely to your symptoms and clearly explain the next steps to find the cause, including diagnostic testing.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our breast surgery team, providing direct clinical and surgical support to a single, high-volume breast surgeon. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in breast health, surgical oncology, and multidisciplinary cancer care. This role includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients throughout their breast cancer treatment journey.
Collaborating physician: Dr. Marlene Mancuso, MD is a board-certified General Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist with over two decades of experience. She earned her MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2001 and completed her training in surgical oncology. Dr. Mancuso is affiliated with Catholic Health Physician Partners and serves patients across Manhasset, Bethpage, New Hyde Park, and Hackensack.
She specializes in general and breast surgical oncology, with particular expertise in treating lobular carcinoma and breast lumps. Patients consistently praise her for compassionate care, clear communication, and thorough follow-up.

Outpatient Duties:
USD $66.55 - USD $90.00 /Hr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.

Key Responsibilities
Outpatient Duties:
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient evaluations independently and alongside the surgeon.
- Assist with breast cancer surveillance and benign breast disease management.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Manage phone calls, patient inquiries, prescription refills, and care coordination.
- Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the EMR.
- First-assist in the operating room for a range of breast procedures (lumpectomy, mastectomy, SLNB, reconstruction collaboration).
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and drain management.
- Participate in inpatient rounds as needed.
- Coordinate hospital discharges and post-op planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case discussions.
- Communicate effectively with medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, genetics, and nursing teams.
- Support clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects, if desired.
- Maintain compliance with all institutional, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA Certification
- Licensed (or license-eligible) as a PA in NYS.
- DEA
- BLS and ACLS Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Prior experience in surgery, oncology, or women’s health preferred, but new graduates with relevant clinical rotations are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach
