Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a strong Network Test engineer to join a growing team within the fiber world. The core focus will come from supporting NetEng teams; design and testing efforts by maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the network data. You will partner with other team members to best align with workflow, there will be a test tracker used to help with alignment. This is a chance to work on new service testing, new software testing and of course new hardware testing. We need candidates with a open mind to learn and grow and work well with others.

Key Responsibilities

•  Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for networking equipment and networking features.
•  Set up, configure, and troubleshoot complex multi-vendor networking lab environments that mimic live networks.
•  Validate performance, scalability, and reliability of enterprise and service provider networking solutions.
•  Develop Python-based automation scripts and frameworks to improve test efficiency and coverage.
•  Conduct system-level testing across Ethernet, IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, and related technologies.
•  Perform traffic generation and analysis using tools such as Ixia/Keysight.
•  Collaborate closely with development, QA, and operations teams to identify, debug, and resolve issues.
•  Document test cases, results, and defects with high clarity and detail.

Qualifications

Skills and Requirements

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
•  7 years of hands-on experience in network testing or qualification.
•  Strong knowledge of L2/L3 protocols: Ethernet, VLANs, STP, IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, QoS.
•  Solid background with Enterprise or ISP-grade network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
•  Demonstrate strong ability to set up, configure, and troubleshoot complex, large-scale network environments across multi-vendor platforms (Nokia, Cisco, Arista, Ciena, Juniper, etc)
•  Proficiency in Python for test automation (Pytest or similar frameworks).
•  Hands-on experience with traffic generators and analyzers (Ixia/Keysight preferred).
•  Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional Skills
•  Experience with cloud networking technologies (GCP, AWS, etc).
•  Knowledge of Linux-based test environments and shell scripting.
•  Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test integration.
•  Familiarity with optical transport technologies (DWDM, OTN, Ethernet over optics).
•  CCIE, JNCIE certification a plus
